PID  CONTROLLER LABORATORY

I\'m an engineer not very expert of PID controller design.
I\'m developing a welding machine based on a switching power supply current loop controlled by using the PID controller contained into Si8250 Silabs MCU.
Could you help me to set the proper parameter?
Because it is difficult to simulate the network to compensate, I thought to adopt a network analyzer and then a linear control response instrument to set up the PID parameters. Could it be a proper way? If yes, could you indicate me how can I set this kind of measurement station (links, docs)?
